In this tour you will learn about the origin and development of the rum production in Cuba. The tour includes:
Near San Fransisco Square, the Museum of Rum is housed in an old 18th century mansion where visitors can see the distilling process of the famous Havana Club Rum (fermentation, filtering, aging and blending) including the growing of the sugar cane.
The famous bar where the Daiquiri was born! Ernest Hemingway used to visit often the Cradle of the Daiquiri. His bronze statue stands in the place he used to sit to enjoy his drinks. In 1953 Floridita bar was considered one of the seven most famous bars in the world!
This famous bar and restaurant is credited with perfecting Cuba’s national drink, the mojito, and was once frequented by talented writers such as Alejo Carpentier, Nicolas Guillen and Ernest Hemingway.
Among its attractions are the Plaza de Armas Restaurant and the Roof Garden, located on the top floor, where there is one of the best views of Old Havana. The room where Ernest Hemingway stayed during the 1930’s is kept as a small museum
